opening up a five-point lead for president obama. the swing states are the most important. we'll get polling on that soon as well, but it looks like there was definitely a bounce in the polls for president obama after the convention. during our coverage on current eliot spitzer predicted a four-point bump. i predicted five. vice president gore, six to eight. it looks like the democratic convention went off better than the republican one if you look at the polls. now that the conventions are over, mitt romney as usual getting himself in more and more trouble. so they're answering the question. you got to under something. mitt romney's tax plan is a disaster for the budget. it would create giant deficits. how can you say you can fight deficits if your plan creates bigger deficits. he says, no, no, i'm going to get rid of the loopholes. >> give me an example of a loophole that you'll close. >> romney: people at high end taxpayers will have fewer deductions and exemptions. those numbers will come down. >> i'm cutting tax on the rich massively, but some of the loopholes i might take away
that you wake the [bleep] up. >> all right. now, president obama and mitt romney are of course out on the campaign trail. they both happen to be in virginia today trying to rally their own troops, and then they've even got ads, as well, where they are both facing the camera which always is slightly awkward if you ask me and making their personal appearances saying you got to vote for me and this is my plan. in has ad that president obama has, it's actually two minutes long if you watch the whole thing, he talks patriotism and how there's a new economic patriotism. >> governor romney believes with bigger tax cuts for the wealthy and fewer wall street regulations all of us would brought speaker. he'd double down on the same fiscal policies that got us here in the first place. our economy begins with a strong thriving middle class. >> it also involves everybody paying their fair share and keeping their money here instead of the cayman islands. i wonder who that might refer to. he didn't mention that in the two minutes but it was implicit. j.k. rowling has a book coming out today. back
